A tooth lost

(Feb. 19, 2007) Emma lost her very first tooth today. She began to notice it wiggling about a week ago when we discovered her new tooth coming in BEHIND the old tooth. The dentist said this happens in about 10% of the cases, so we would need to "encourage" the old tooth to come out. Mom quickly taught Emma the word grandpa used ... THUNK. We had just taken Emma's new picture at JC Penney. They had quite a wait to see the proofs. So we decided to try a couple thunks. Before you know it, Emma stuck out her tongue, and there was a tooth on the end of it! She got so excited that she ran around the picture studio telling anyone who would listen. She also found a mirror and couldn't escape looking at her new mouth every minute or so. A little 6 year old sitting next to us tried to convince Emma that the tooth fairy wasn't real. We quickly put a muzzle on him. Fortunately, Emma wouldn't have any of his stories. She was way too excited for the fairy visit that night. (She brought 50 cents, by the way).
