Stackie Uppie

One of the first things we did when we got to Bakersfield was a dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Burdettes called "Stackie Uppie". It's their own strange family tradition. You fill your plate as high as you want with a combination of everything from rice to chicken to coconut and nuts. It's bizarre - but strangely ... delicious. Much of the extended family was there as well, so it was really fun. The cousins even took turns performing for the crowd. Emma sang a couple songs from church choir. Evan played violin. Madison played the flute and Donovan and Elena banged out some tunes on the keyboards.

I can't believe that is Donovan with Elena! The last time we saw him was at your wedding. Looks like a fun time in Bakersfield.
